Carey College
Carey is the theological college of the Baptist Churches of New Zealand – a learning community focused on providing the highest quality theological training to Christians wanting to explore their faith more.

We offer undergraduate courses in Applied Theology & Mission as an NZQA accredited private training institution. Postgraduate courses are offered through the Laidlaw-Carey Graduate School (a partnership with Laidlaw College). We also provide specialist training for those preparing for pastoral leadership, and internship training for those in church or mission roles.

Carey exists to train people for the church and for the marketplace so as to enable them to serve and think and lead in a way that advances God’s mission in the world.

cbm

cbm's aim is to serve persons with disabilities in developing countries — regardless of their nationality, sex, or religion. cbm's fields of work cover not only the prevention and cure of blindness, but also the education and rehabilitation of people with physical, mental, or intellectual disabilities.

cbm implements its programmes through local partners. The financial resources, know-how, and staff-support provided by cbm enable partners in developing countries to gradually become independent of foreign aid. Overall aims of cbm's overseas work are to:

  • Enable cbm's partners to deliver services in cooperation with disabled people's interest groups,
  • Give people with disability the support they wish,
  • Promote their inclusion, and
  • Raise awareness for their needs

To achieve these aims, cbm cooperates with global institutions and contributes to international campaigns. cbm has been recognised as a professional organisation for people with disabilities by the World Health Organisation and obtained roster consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

Laidlaw College

Laidlaw College (formerly Bible College of New Zealand)
Laidlaw College exists for students who bring their hearts and minds to their study, ready to engage with ideas and the scriptures, with peers and with faculty, with church and society, and ultimately with God.

All degree students at Laidlaw study a core set of courses that we believe articulate the foundations of our college. These courses ground you in the biblical story and bring you into thoughtful dialogue with different perspectives to prepare you for effective engagement with society. These courses are:

  • Biblical Theology – learning the big story
  • Ways of Knowing – laying down the core skills of thinking well
  • Formation – building a faith of the heart and of the mind
  • Worldview and Ways of Life – beginning to grapple with the big ideas

Maxim Institute
The Maxim Institute is an independent research and public policy think tank. We are committed to the people, land, history and culture of New Zealand. Our mission is to foster ideas and leadership that enable freedom, justice and compassion to flourish in New Zealand.

At Maxim Institute we recognise the importance of:

the transcendent; human life; marriage and family; the communities of civil society; government; the rule of law; the separation of powers; personal character and responsibility; work; ownership and trade; the earth and its resources; the free exchange of ideas and history and memory.

NZCMS

The New Zealand Church Missionary Society
Our agency has been working in New Zealand from the very beginning of our country's history. In fact, the gospel first came to New Zealand in 1814 with the Church Missionary Society. Shortly after 1892, when a New Zealand branch was started, the first missionaries were sent overseas to serve the Lord; since then NZCMS has continued to send people into many parts of the world.

The Church is called to mission. NZCMS gladly responds to this call of proclaiming the good news of God's grace in Jesus Christ to all people. Today, mission is 'from everywhere to everywhere.' Within this aim NZCMS desires to:

  • Send mission partners to such locations as the Spirit of God may direct.
  • Work closely with the Church where mission partners are sent.
  • Co-operate closely with other missionary agencies
  • Recruit and train candidates for mission service.
  • Promote awareness of mission work so that members of NZCMS and other church people are continually informed about the needs of the areas where mission partners are serving.
  • Challenge people about the needs in areas where the gospel is yet to be taken.
The Salvation Army New Zealand Corps

The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is a worldwide evangelical Christian Church and human service provider. Our message is based on the Bible. Our ministry is motivated by love for God. Our mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human need in his name without discrimination. We aim to care for people and transform lives through God in Christ by the Holy Spirit’s power. We work for the reform of society by alleviating poverty, deprivation and disadvantage, and by challenging evil, injustice and oppression, in the name of Jesus.

The Social Policy & Parliamentary Unit works towards the eradication of poverty by encouraging policies and practices that strengthen the social framework of New Zealand. We provide solid social research and robust policy analysis, engaging with national opinion makers in politics, government, business, media and education. We also prepare resources to help all people engage in critical thought and debate.

The Unit is also part of a growing network of Social Justice Units throughout the world which are coordinated by The Salvation Army International Social Justice Commission based in New York. Working in 111 countries programmes and resources are focused into Emergency Aid, Development Assistance, Human Trafficking and Ethical Trading.

Tear Fund

TEAR Fund New Zealand
TEAR Fund stands for The Evangelical Alliance Relief Fund, an organisation formed in Britain in the 1950s in response to African famine. It later became a permanent organisation. The New Zealand group was formed in 1975.

TEAR Fund represents the compassion of Jesus. For over 30 years we have worked through child sponsorship, microenterprise, community development and disaster relief projects throughout the developing world. Assistance is provided regardless of the religious beliefs of recipients.

TEAR Fund partners with local Christian organisations and churches in developing countries. Our partners use local staff who work directly with the poorest people, helping them find their own solutions, cutting out the middleman and reducing costs. Our key activities are child sponsorship, Microenterprise, community development projects and disaster relief.

The Leprosy Mission

The Leprosy Mission
Leprosy is still rife in the developing world. There is a simple and effective cure, but poverty and stigma often stand in the way. Many people lose feeling in their hands and feet, and some are banished from their homes and communities.

As a Christian development organisation, The Leprosy Mission New Zealand works hard to overcome the causes and consequences of leprosy. Our projects in countries like Ethiopia, India and Nepal help thousands of people, thanks to the support of the New Zealand public.

tranzsend

tranzsend is the mission arm of the Baptist Churches of New Zealand.

We have a distinct geographical focus of Asia, South Asia, South-East Asia, East Asia and the Pacific.

We do traditional mission work but we’re also committed to working out the mission imperative through business as mission, development as mission and resourcing national workers and churches.

We also try to encourage mission action through short term teams and longer term placements in conjunction with Carey College, the training centre for New Zealand Baptists.

VisionNetwork

VISIONNetwork of New Zealand
Visionnetwork is a broad spectrum New Zealand Christian Network. Visionnetwork operates across denominations, ministries, networks, towns and cities, across New Zealand.

Visionnetwork exists to foster Christian unity, providing a national identity, voice and platform for all who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, desire to see the extension of the kingdom of God by proclamation of the gospel in word and deed to all nations, and by Christ-centred transformation within society, to the glory of God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Visionnetwork is a member of the World Evangelical Alliance, but works to build relationships with all churches, networks, denominations, councils of churches, and ministries.
