The prayers and background information set out here are designed to help children and adults pray about eight basic issues of poverty outlined in the Millennium Development Goals.
At the end of this prayer guide, there are some suggestions about activities that will help children think about the MDGs related to their own lives.
The prayers will culminate on Sunday October 10, 2010 (10.10.10) when 100 million Christians around the globe will pray and promise together to declare God’s love for all in desperate need and to take action.

In Biblical times, the poorest and most powerless people in society were women and God put in place special laws to protect them from economic and physical exploitation. Today, it is still women who are the most vulnerable to poverty, who are denied access to decision-making, who suffer from violence and who miss out on education.
Could God be calling women of faith to speak up on behalf of other women and girls, to declare the value of women in God’s Kingdom?
